The Worlds Most Scenic Drives; Top 10
What could be better than taking your car out on a beautiful day to drive along a scenic route with a stunning panorama; but where should you go to find the world's most scenic drives?
If you find yourself with a little too much time on your hands, nothing to do and a car waiting to be driven, the read on. To saving you searching round for the best drives the world has to offer, here's my top 10 list of the drives of your life, just waiting for you to get out and experience them:
1: Alsace Wine Route (France); Lush verdant fields and rolling hills surround you in France's wine making region. The meandering road spilling past field after field of green vines and basking in glorious long hot summers make this one of the most idyllic drives you'll experience.
2: Transfagarasan Road (Romania); if you're a sucker for the latest vampire novel/film then travelling along this road is a must. Leading to non other than the legendary Transylvania – the mythical home of Nosferatu – this is a highly elevated road winding through the spectacular scenery of the Carpathian Mountains; the backdrop of lush green forests and air of mystery enshrouding the landscape makes this a fantastic drive.
3: Icefields Parkway (Canada); the backdrop of Alberta's mammoth black stone mountains - capped in snow - makes this a drive you won't quickly forget. The road is bordered on either side in most places by deep verdant forests with an almost unparalleled variety of spectacular Flora and Fauna such as Elks, Bears and Moose roaming free across the landscape. With the stunning glacier blue rivers and waterfalls that abound here you won't want to leave.
4: Grossglocknerstrasse (Austria); at over 3,798 metres above sea level, the Grossglockner Mountain is the highest in the Alps and a truly mesmerising site. The spectacular landscape - alternating between snow covered mountain slopes and green meadows - mean you'll find it hard to keep your eyes glued to the road. With it's sweet and clear mountain air this drive certainly deserves to be on any top 10 list.
5: Munnar Road (India); the air here is flavoured with tea and exotic spices from the plantations covering the slopes, making this a relaxing drive which will excite your olfactory senses. The beautiful flora and fauna amongst this landscape of green rolling hills make for a sight you'll not soon forget.
6: High Atlas Mountains (Morocco); a drive of a truly varied nature, ranging from mountains capped in snow to the Sahara deserts open sands. Taking the bustling city of Marrakech as your starting point you can meander through the magnificent landscape through to North Africa; passing through traditional Berber villages, dramatic vistas and stunning viewpoints along your way.
7: Furka Pass (Switzerland); if you can't get enough of the Swiss Alps then this is another spectacular drive with stunning views and the added bonus of glacier ice caves to stop and explore. The verdant scenery surrounding this drive and fun driving offered by the twisty roads make this a pleasure driver's heaven, but remember to keep your eyes on the road as this one's not without its fair share of danger.
8: Milford Road (New Zealand); offering some of the world most spectacular scenery and used by many Hollywood Blockbusters as a filming location, this country should top anyone's list of places to visit. The huge green mountains capped with snow, crystalline lakes, pure air and rainforest make this scenery truly stunning. This road travels alongside a 14 mile long fjord in places with views of the Tasman Sea; don't miss it.
9: Great Ocean Road (Australia); with a population concentration of around 2.8 inhabitants per square km this is a country where you can truly lose yourself. The many barren but scenic roads wind through desert landscape and stunning coastline with rock formations galore. This particular 170 mile long road stretches around the coastline, taking in the visual feasts above along with the "Otways" rainforest; still filled with plants that could be found there 140 million years ago.
10: The Seward Highway (Alaska); another truly varied drive with the dazzling Alaskan landscape to leave you awestruck. The beautiful snow-capped mountains form the perfect backdrop to the waterfalls and verdant forests that compose the states landscape. At times Beluga Whales can even be seen running in the waters that surround the area; certainly a most deserving contender for this list.

I think that driving through the moutians in New Zeland should be the number one scenic drive on my list. Just because of the amazing view of deep valleys iand all the wildlife.
